Peter Tribe is a partner who heads the Shipping/Marine Insurance Group.
Peter qualified as a solicitor in 1987 and became a partner in 1990. His specialities are shipping, especially charter disputes, cargo claims and ship casualties, and marine insurance, especially hull claims and charterer's liability claims.
He also takes a special interest in international trade and has particularly useful expertise in commodities disputes. He is a firm believer in commercial resolution of disputes as an alternative to litigation, and has recently acted in connection with disputes arising out of the collapse of Enron and TXU. His commercial appreciation of the problems facing international businessmen and their insurers, together with a considered tactical approach promotes practical solutions to practical problems. Peter's clients include ship owners and charterers, oil companies, port operators and marine and energy insurers. He is regularly involved in all aspects of their legal affairs, including drafting of contract wordings, construction of insurance policy wordings and all aspects of court or arbitration proceedings.
Peter lives in Cambridge. Whilst at home his hobbies include music, motor racing and archery. He also travels extensively on wildlife, ecological and cultural studies.
